Abstract

Over the last decade, technological developments have it possible to quickly and non-destructively, the Chlorophyll (CHL) status of plants more recently, non-destructive optical methods, based on the absorbance and/or reflectance of light by the intact leaf have been developed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of a portable chlorophyll mete to estimate chlorophyll and nitrogen in common hazel (Corylus arellana L.). Significant correlations were observed between (CCI) and (N) (p≤0.001, r2 = 60%). Total chlorophyll content ranged from 0.10-0.66 μg mm-2 and Nitrogen (Ndw) values ranged from 1.1-3.4%.
