The study deals with values and goals of modern teacher training system which are connected with peculiarities of the current socio-cultural situation. Teachers professional functions and correspondent tendencies of their training are considered in the view of understanding education and teachers activity as a vital humanitarian and social practice. Necessary changes in cognitive and practical constituents of teacher training in the Framework of competence model in higher education of intending teachers have been proved.
