Abstract

Although humans have embraced social life, they’re not willing to give up what is relevant to their individual issues; the foremost of which is preserving their privacy. The most obvious example for that is home. Passing through the history of home, we are witnessing a loss of values which were responsive to the needs of their time. Now a days, these values not only have not evolved to suit the needs of the time but are totally absent in contemporary architecture. The present study takes a review on cases in contemporary architecture that undermine privacy. This descriptive-analytical article is done based on applied research principles. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire designed by the researcher based on privacy principles. The target statistical population is Iran. In observance toKergsy-Morgan Table, 384 people were randomly selected and tested. Binomial test is the statistical method used. The test results provided some major factors and parameters which were responsible for weakening the indicators of privacy. Finally, suggestions are given in order to better implement the privacy principles in architecture. This study prepares a ground for taking into consideration the existent and potential role of personal privacy in contemporary architecture.
