Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of shell and tube type heat exchanger system using different controllers like PID controller, fractional order PID controller and fuzzy controller. The main purpose of a controller is to control the outlet temperature of a shell and tube type heat exchanger system to a particular set point value. The steady state performances of different controllers are analyzed with and without load disturbances to find out the best controller. The MATLAB simulation results exhibit that the fractional order PID controller gives low peak overshoot and low settling time when compared with PID controller and fuzzy logic controller.
