As time progresses, more and more oil reservoirs reach maturity; consequently, secondary and tertiary methods of oil recovery have become increasingly important in the petroleum industry. This reality has increased the industry’s interest in using simulation as a tool for reservoir evaluation and management to minimize costs and increase efficiency. This study presents and compares several control methods in regards to the well-known reservoir simulation task of history matching that is performed to calibrate simulators.
