The study considers the development of the Agricultural industry, as a principal sector of business activity, in 20th century Jersey. The perceived decline in Agriculture due to too much concentration on one crop and competition from other areas is considered. Also, the development of the Finance industry from the arrival of the first merchant bank in the 1960s to its present day standing providing 55% of GNP and the continued importance of the Tourism industry are considered in relation to the Agricultural industry. The aims of the study are to determine the factors involved in the modern development of the Agricultural industry and farming enterprises in Jersey.
