In the wireless world nowadays, the security of digital images becomes more and more important since the communications of digital products over network occur more and more frequently. Furthermore, special and reliable security in storage and transmission of digital images are needed in many applications, such as Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), medical imaging systems, etc. The purpose of this paper is propose a series of views concerning the ways in which we can protect images transmitted/saved within applications using the wireless MMS services. We are proposing a workable recipe for enforcing an acceptable image protection starting by transforming the wireless image into an XML codec, using specific lightweight encryption techniques, and measuring the effectiveness of such protection strategy through the use of emulators, security measures such as the FIBS 140-1 and some well-known attacks.
