Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to determine the effects of high temperature on serum parameters, egg production, egg weight, and eggshell thickness of the Japanese quails placed in different population densities. In this regard, two temperature groups; control group (18-24 oC) and trial group (35 oC) were formed, and the quails of each temperature group were placed in the cages (19x19x19 cm) at 120, 90 and 72 cm2 placement densities. On one hand, high temperature increased blood serum parameters such as glucose, urea, Na, triglycerin and cholesterol rates, on the other hand, it decreased protein, albumin, P, Ca, K, and ALP levels of the quails at different placement densities. In addition to high temperature, the increase of placement density resulted in decrease in the egg productivity, egg weight, and eggshell thickness of the quails. In order to minimize the physological stress of the quails at high temperatures (35 oC), it must be noticed not to place 3 quails/360 cm2 in the placement area.
