Abstract

This study identifies the factors impacting on entrepreneurs’ fishing business development in the coastal region of Ondo State, Nigeria. Primary data were collected through well-structured face-to-face interviews with entrepreneurs and community leaders. Using descriptive statistics, the study proves that the fishing activities of the communities are particularly constrained by poverty, lack of access to finance, poor infrastructure and environmental degradation. The study suggests that government must provide financial resources and facilitate investment in fishing equipment and infrastructural development, as well as proper management of environmental degradation and eradication of poverty for sustainable entrepreneurship development in the region.
