Abstract

Condylar fracture are most common fractures of mandible. But there exits a years old controversy of the treatment, either to treat it by open reduction internal fixation or by functional means i.e. closed reduction. Traditionally condylar fracture were treated by closed reduction, nowadays the trend is for open reduction and internal fixation. Both the treatment has its own merits and demerits. This meta‐analysis and systematic review compare the outcome of the condylar fractures treated by open reduction and internal fixation and closed reduction in terms of maximum incisal opening, lateral excrusion, protrusion.
