Abstract

Alcoholism is one of the major medical and public health problems all over the world. The prolonged used of alcohol may lead to dependence of the substances. The dependence of alcohol causes many mental health problems which includes Self‐esteem and Quality of Sleep among the persons who developed dependence over that substance. The main aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Interventional Package on Self‐esteem and Quality of Sleep among Patients with Alcohol Use disorders. The study used a true‐experimental research design with control and experimental group, which was a quantitative technique. Using cluster sampling technique, 150 alcohol use disorder patients were chosen. Pre‐tests and post‐tests were administered, data was gathered using Rosenberg self‐esteem scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), after the pre‐test, Interventional Package was given for the alcohol dependents. In Experimental Group, pre and post‐test level of self‐esteem mean value is 30.2 and 16, respectively and on quality of sleep in pre‐test and in post‐test the mean value shows 12 and 3 among patient with alcohol use disorder respectively. In Control Group, pre and post‐test level of self‐esteem mean value is 27.6 and 27.4 respectively and on quality of sleep in pre‐test and in post‐test the mean value shows 15.3 and 14.6 among patient with alcohol use disorder respectively. The calculated independent t‐test value and p value for the pre and post‐test level of self‐esteem and quality of sleep in experimental group was 27.73 and 0.435 with p value for self‐esteem is <0.001 and for quality of sleep 0.669, which was highly statistically significant at p value less than 0.001 levels. The calculated independent t‐test value and p value for the prepost‐ test between control groups was 0.126 and 0.565 with p‐value for self‐esteem is 0.902 and for quality of sleep was 0.586. On association, there is no significant association between level of quality of sleep and self‐esteem with their Socio demographic Variables. The study concluded that Implementation of Interventional package on Self‐esteem and Quality of Sleep among patients with alcohol use disorder is highly effective in improving the level of Self‐esteem and Quality of Sleep among study variables. Hence, it can be implemented in broader aspects to get desired outcomes a larger scale among other populations.
