The long educational programmes in public administration take the form of Professional Development (PD) in Finland. They maintain and deepen professional competence and expand the competence of the participants in new areas. The design of long programmes of management education requires not only more wide-ranging project management skills, but also more in-depth expertise in the specific subjects of the programme. There is also a need to know the organisational context in which the knowledge is applied.
