Abstract

The main objective of this paper was to examine the role of Japan towards the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. This paper critically examined the role of the Japanese media, Journalists, intellectuals, politicians, the government and the people in formulating the pro-Bangladesh opinion among the Japanese and international community. The exclusive press coverage programs in the radio Japan, NHK, editorials, political commentaries, etc., both in English and Japanese played a significant role. Different individual like Mr. Takashi Hayakawa and different organization like Nihon Bengaru Tomo No Kai, Bangladesh Solidarity Front etc. helped to gain support in favour of Bangladesh.
