Major investigations have been focused on the security issues in Mobile Ad Hoc network (MANET) for the past few years. It requires continuous monitoring which lead to rapid exhaustion of nodes battery life. Establishing communication among the self configuring nodes for transferring packets is a challenging task in MANET. In the presence of malicious nodes such task may be a great security concern; for instance, these nodes may interrupt the entire network process. To address these issues, threshold based light weight Energy Based Secure Routing (EBSR) protocol is proposed. The dynamic defense scheme is provided by comparing the context of interaction of nodes in the network. Each interaction describes the behavior within the operational scenario of the network. Set of interactions are determined analytically and the nodes behavior are tracked dynamically during simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed technique significantly achieves better packet delivery ratio with less delay by detecting and isolating attacker nodes than existing techniques. It also reduces network traffic and the overall energy consumption by maintaining high detection rate and accuracy.
