Current developments of telecommunication technologies, most notably the advent of DSL, have shifted the distance education to completely new instructional approach. In this paper a distance-learning model is proposed that encompasses the DSL technology capabilities, in its current available forms and in those under development. It takes into the account not only the traditional aspect of teaching and education methods but also proposed models in distance education via internet. Thus, it proposes a considerable shift from an instructor led approach to learner center approach. Asynchronous and synchronous interactions with various DSL platforms are emphasized, with their characteristics, capabilities, differences and their implications in developing an effective distance-learning model.
