AB - The purpose of this study is to verify the influence of organizational identity of a public hospital in Luanda, Angola in the strategic responses implemented by its managers in order to deal with the profound changes occurred throughout the country in a post-civil war context, especially in the health sector. According to the assumptions of the institutional theory, a case study of descriptive and qualitative approach was carried out. Data were collected from semi-structured interview, newspapers articles, websites, organizational documents and government agencies’ documents. For the treatment of data, content analysis was used. The results obtained highlighted a close link between the characteristics of organizational identity and the predominant implementation of strategic responses of acquiescence and compromise by the hospital during that specific period.
