AB  - Organizations undergo several challenges and face competition 
  to sustain and create value to their stakeholders. Sustainability is a major 
  concern, particularly for small and medium organizations. An investigation of 
  the importance of knowledge management within organizations is the need of the 
  hour and how it might impact on sustainability of the enterprises. Knowledge 
  management is a process by which knowledge is created, shared, stored and utilized 
  for the benefit of organizations. A thorough literature review and field study 
  is conducted to highlight the extent of existence of platform for knowledge 
  creation, factors affecting knowledge sharing, storage and utilization. Also 
  how the knowledge management practices impact the work performance of employees. 
  The result of this study will help to bring out the necessity for organizations 
  to create an environment for enhancing the knowledge management practices for 
  enhancing the capacity of employees to work and perform better. It is hoped 
  that the research reported in this study would contribute to sustainable advantage 
  of pump manufacturing firms in Coimbatore, a city in Southern part of India 
  where there has been little evidence of implementation of formal knowledge management 
  practices.
