AB  - In this study, the torque produced by a switched reluctance motor having 18 poles in stator and 12 poles in rotor is calculated by using Finite element method. 18/12 SRM is compared with 12/8 and 6/4 poles SRMs according to their radial forces acting on rotor poles. Closed loop current model of the SRM under interest is also built and simulation results are obtained by computer. Closed loop current control application of SRM is performed by using a TMS320LF2407A Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Simulation results of closed loop current control of the SRM are compared with experimental results
