AB - The critical Sustainable Manufacturing (SM) drivers are becoming a widely interest area among
scholars and researchers in the manufacturing industries. Moreover, Sustainable Manufacturing Practices
(SMP) are the important element to enhance firm’s sustainability performance. Hence, this study aims to identify
the relationship between SM drivers and firm performance through a proposed theoretical model in the
Malaysian manufacturing industry. The model was developed and empirically tested through survey data
obtained from 323 manufacturing firms. The study provides empirical insights on how resource availability and
market forces positively influence firm performance. This study contributes to the existing literatures by
enriching SM drivers that lead to the firm performance. The conclusion drawn involves implications to the SM,
by considering the roles of policy and regulation, strategic leadership, resource availability and market forces
in research literature.
