AB  - The issue of database as property as well as its protection is very much debated 
  of late. The idea of database as property under syariah law is relatively new. 
  This study attempts to examine the position of database as property under syariah 
  law and whether or not it should be well protected under syariah law. This writing 
  observes that some recent ulama have began to recognized database as a valid 
  and valuable property. However, such opinion is far from conclusive. This is 
  because there are others who considered database, as ambiguous property which 
  does not receive conclusive protection under syariah law. This study argues 
  that database property should received a universal recognition among the ulama’ 
  around the globe. Only then will it be well protected under the sacred syariah 
  law.
