AB  - This study reports the results of an academic investigation of the plight of people living in flood-prone areas in Ondo town, Nigeria. Urban flooding has been a major problem in urban centers in Nigeria and in most cities of the world. Urban flooding is caused by a multiplicity of factors. Some of the factors are anthropogenic in nature while others are related to meteorological vicissitudes and geomophological tectonics. This study pigeonhole the foremost flood-prone sectors in Ondo town and highlights the depth of the trauma of flood victims in the area. The method of investigation was that of systematic sampling and the sampling frame was 300 respondents, drawn from 10  flood prone areas in the town. The study adumbrates some structural and non-structural strategies for mitigating the effect of floods on city residents and urban infrastructure. Specific recommendations on how to take the edge off the incidence of floods in Ondo town are articulated in the study.
