AB - The study presents a model of response generation by a computer using a rule-based approach. The rule-based approach, the underlying approach behind artificial intelligence has been modeled and simulated. A new model of response generation named the speech hierarchy model has been developed in the form of a mathematical framework which was then implemented as a tool. The tool simulates the process by which the human mind understands and visualizes a situation and then generates a response according to the context. The results of the simulation were near perfect although the tool does not parallel natural intelligence in terms of flexibility of stimulus and response.
