AB - Previous studies have shown that certain organizational characteristics such as culture, government
policy and operational location of an organization will influence the medical waste management practice.
Underpinned by the organizational control theory, a survey was conducted to examine the statistical
relationships between organizational external factors and the medical waste management practice among public
hospitals in Libya. The correlation analysis illustrates that the environmental factors and government policy
significantly influence medical waste segregation, collection and disposal.
