AB  - This study presents a large effective area square photonic crystal fiber for optical communication
systems. In order to achieve large effective area, a five rings square photonic crystal fiber with missing first ring
air holes is proposed. The designed PCF represents that it is possible to obtain large effective area, better
chromatic dispersion, low confinement losses and near zero splice loss in the entire telecommunication band
by using modest number of design parameters based on full vector finite-difference method. Additionally, the
effect of bending on confinement losses of the proposed square photonic crystal fiber has been investigated.
