AB  - The study is devoted to optimization of the route net of the public passenger transport. The
researcher analyze the state transportation system in the Russian Federation and elicit common problems in the
organization of public transport in regional centers. The study presents the scientific and methodological
approaches allowing routes optimization based on minimizing the time which passengers spend on movement.
The results of the research were implemented to the public passenger transport routes in Orel.
