AB  - A manual and a computer-aided method for the calculation of the energy balance of processes with recycle streams have been presented. The method emphasizes that the material balances of the processes need to have been calculated by one of the well-known methods of calculating the material balances of such processes. The results demonstrate that for large and complex processes involving several recycle streams, computer-aided calculation is imperative.
