AB - The use of cassava peel activated carbon for the removal of Nickel from aqueous solution at different contact times, pH, adsorbent doses and initial nickel concentration was investigated. The percentage of Ni (ii) removal decreased with increasing adsorbent dosage. The equilibrium sorption isotherms have been analyzed by Freundlich, Langmuir and Temkin models. The equilibrium data fitted well to the 3 models. Temkin model had the highest correlation coefficient followed by Freundlich model. In order to investigate the mechanisms of adsorption, the pseudo 1st-order, pseudo 2nd-order, 2nd-order and simple Elovich kinetic models were used. The results indicated that Ni (ii) uptake process followed pseudo 2nd-order rate expression.
