AB - The simulation of an absorption chiller requires thermodynamic models to represent the liquid-vapour equilibrium and the different properties of the mixture. Three models are tried to find the one which leads to a realistic description according to the experimental data that we dispose of. The first study is based on the NRTL model to describe the liquid phase and the Virial equation of state to represent the vapour one. The second model is the Sovave-Redlich-Kwong equation of state and the last is the PC-SAFT equation of state. We realize that an acceptable deviation on the compositions and the temperatures calculated by the proposed methods has significant effects on the simulation of the column parameters, i.e. the number of theoretical stages necessary to accomplish the separation and the position of the feed stage as well as on the quantity of heat provided to the reboiler, which affects the value of the COP of the machine.
