AB - Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a group of
clinical disorders, is widespread and correlated with
elevated cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Total
300 subjects with metabolic syndrome according to the
Harmonized criteria underwent 2D echo and Doppler
imaging in the present prospective, observational cohort
study. Present study demonstrated the high prevalence of
diastolic dysfunction with metabolic syndrome in
asymptomatic subjects. About three-fourth of the subjects
with metabolic syndrome had diastolic dysfunction. A
historical factor in the worsening of diastolic function is
the increasing age, high prevalence of diastolic
dysfunction in middle-aged patients with metabolic
syndrome, highlighting the need for timely recognition
and early intervention before the development of diastolic
heart failure in these patients.
