AB  - Performance characteristics of gas-liquid contacting devices for mass transfer operations in packed and plate columns have been discussed via theoretical considerations. A comparative analysis was made of sieve plate, random packing and regular packing for the purpose of selecting packed column or plate column for optimal separation processes.
