AB  - Quality of pet foods must be primary concern for manufacturers worldwide and their guaranteed levels must be stated on food labels and be followed. This research reports an investigation regarding the guaranteed levels stated on 52 of dogs and cats samples pack labels versus laboratorial data and country regulation. The laboratory data of 44% dogs and cats food samples did not correlate to the levels described on the labels. The data was compared to the international levels of inclusion regulated by the AAFCO for pet food regulation and NRC and regarding nutritional requirements, 50% of Europe and North America samples did not meet the level recommended. Most of the moisture content samples were in the safe range with exception of 4% of North America samples. More attention should be taken by the manufacturers, regarding nutritional values reported on pet food labels and the real content present in the packs food content.
