AB  - The main aim of this research is to study the role, attitude and problems of the parents/ society, in the socialization of the handicapped children. The attitude of privileged groups of society towards handicapped makes them feel inferior or normal individuals. There is a need that people should change their attitude towards handicapped children. Family plays essentially a vital role in the adjustment of the individuals. Parent`s attitudes are the most important factors in this process of adjustment or mal adjustment. The present study is an attempt to find out the role of parents in the rehabilitation of the handicapped children. The respondents were mothers having disabled children. From three special education institutions of Faisalabad city, a sample of 105 respondents was drawn randomly. It was found that majority of the respondents belong to nuclear family, illiterate, low income strata and got married among their first cousins. Parents with higher education and income tend to have favorable and helpful attitude towards their physically handicapped children.
