AB - Hadoop has become the standard framework for administering big data process in the industry. Though, hadoop is predominantly applied over textual data, it can also be applied over binary data which includes images. This study deals with a framework, E-scalding which is capable of performing intensive image processing problem, i.e., creating photographic mosaic over big data using cloud storage. Microsoft azure is the cloud storage which acts as the storage repository for the image dataset. Image fusion technique is used as an optimization technique to enhance the resultant mosaic cell. Finally, the performance across the methods such as hadoop API based implementation (MapReduce), conventional scalding method and E-scalding with image fusion method is compared. The time taken to generate mosaic cell is estimated using the results obtained from E-scalding with image fusion method.
