AB  - Today, information and communication technologies (ICT) have become a critical factor for economic growth, progress and prosperity of a country. New technologies are a fundamental part of the new economy. However, new technologies have also raised numerous legal issues, which fall within the ambit of newly evolving discipline of law - cyberlaws. Most developed countries have taken relevant measures to protect themselves in the information economy. But most the developing countries are still lagging behind in this context. Nevertheless, Malaysia, a fast progressing developing country in the Asian region, established several cyberlaws in recent years. In this context, this study seeks to highlight the state of cyberlaws in Malaysia and the challenges in implementing the laws. Further, this study also highlights some of the related cyber crimes, which proliferates the need for cyber laws to be enacted in the first place.
