AB  - This study is aimed at looking into the use of fuzzy logic systems for the control of nonlinear problems. Two approaches of control are used. The first approach considers the determination of optimal control strategies. The second one considers the use of variable structure control systems. The aim is the use of fuzzy systems as approximators of nonlinear control laws.
