AB  - This paper reviews the literature in the field of animation using deformation to illustrate the numerous approaches to simulate, control and display the realistic animation. It gives an introduction to the area and then proceeds to detail the various approaches used. Different types of deformation techniques are discussed briefly and techniques adopted by various authors are compared.
