AB - The daily unit commitement is an important part of the short-term operation planning of electrical power systems. Its objective is to solve the problem of deciding which units should be on-line in each time interval and at what level they should be operated during a day to minimize the total operation costs taking into consideration many technical and energy constraints. This paper describes the design criteria of a software package for control of power generation system. The software package modeling the process of commitment unit takes into considertion the short-term load forecasts and transition cost which determines when the units are scheduled to be ON or OFF to satisfy the operating needs of the system.
