AB - In order to perform well in additive noise as well as being robust in a fading environment, Personal Communication Systems (PCS) need proper transmission method. Existing transmission methods are not efficient that much. Moreover there is a need for bandwidth efficient schemes for the recent development of PCS. To meet the above needs, a New Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM) is proposed using Irregular Turbo codes. OFDM is chosen because they are shown to be a very good scheme to combat fading and non-Gaussian noise. Irregular Turbo codes have been employed, since they attain performances near to Shannon limit in AWGN. It is quite natural then to look at the combination of COFDM with irregular turbo codes as system architecture for mobile radio or indoor environments.
