abstract = {Emotional Intelligence (EI) has received a substantial amount of attention in the Organizational
Behavior, Human Resources and Management (OBHRM) literature in recent years from those who champion
its use and others who are wary of its validity. This study attempts to investigate the relationship between
emotional intelligence and job performance of managers in India and find whether there is an impact of EI on
one’s job performance. Managers from various industries were selected as the subject of this study, involving
200 respondents. The self-report emotional scale developed by Krishnaveni and Ranganath known as Deepa
Krishnaveni Emotional Intelligence Test (DKEIT) has been adopted as the measurement for the level of EI
among the employees. All the items in the dependent and independent variables were tested through reliability
test to ensure the reliability of the scale. The findings of the study suggested that there is a significant
relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance.}
