abstract = {Many modern people feel that their relationships and self-identity have been lost in American society
after the Second World War. This crisis has been taken up by several writers. Edward Albee is one of them who
was interested in highlighting the crisis of the troubled man. Albee went deeply into the human psyche and
searched for the psychological conflict of the modern American man in order to reflect the emotional need for
people to understand the meaning of life. This study introduce anakytical study of modern psychoanalytic
theory for the most prominent Albee’s plays. The focus will be The Zoo Story and on the psychological
behavior of Jerry and Peter’s characters such as isolation, loneliness and the absence of social relationships.}
