abstract = {
Many companies are using Open Source Software (OSS) to make strategic use of their information
technology assets. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting perceived usefulness and
satisfaction from the use of open source software. For this purpose, this study proposes a research model that
examines the impacts of open source software quality factors ease of maintenance, cost advantage,
customization and job relevance on perceived usefulness and satisfaction with OSS. Data was collected from
328 randomly selected survey responses by employees in various organizations that are currently using OSS.
The structural equational model was created using AMOS 22.0 in order to test the proposed hypothesis in the
research model. Results show that all OSS quality factors are significantly related to perceived usefulness of
OSS which then positively affects satisfaction. The findings suggest that employee’s value OSS qualities in
perceiving usefulness and satisfaction.
}
