    abstract = {The procurement method is one way that is used to gain a bond between a client and a contractor.
There are three types of procurement method, open tender, selective tender and negotiation tender. Regardless
the types of procurement method, it is significant to select the appropriate procurement method for the
maintenance of a public park. Thus, the proper selection of procurement method will be determining the project
successfully. The idea to identify the method of procurement is because of the gap of knowledge in term of
maintenance in public park. The study aims to determine the best procurement methods for maintenance in
public park according to the local authority’s perspectives. There are two objectives for this study: to identify
the current type of procurement method used for the maintenance of a public park, to determine the criteria
contribute to the selection of procurement method utilized for the maintenance of a public park. An in-depth
interview with the semi-structured question has been used as methodology and gains the data from three local
authorities in Malaysia. The findings showed that all respondents used the same procurement method which
is open tendering for the maintenance in a public park. While the criteria that contribute to the selection in the
open tender are client’s requirement and scope of research or project characteristics. Therefore, this study
suggests that local authorities should undertake comprehensive technique to recognizing the best procurement
method for maintenance in public park.}
