Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) has great flexibility that can control the active and reactive power flow and bus voltages, simultaneously. Decoupled model of the UPFC is applied to maximize the system loadability subject to the transmission line capacity limits and specified voltage level. Optimal placement of UPFC in power system by Hybrid of GA and PSO Algorithm (HGAPSO) algorithm, it leads to a flat voltage profile and increased stability and capacity of the power transmission in lines. At the end, the proof is performed by simulating and testing the 14 bus network and placement of the UPFC appropriately. The results show that the steady state performance of power system can be effectively enhanced due to the optimal location and parameters of the UPFC. ER -
