Water prices should be increased as well as investments in agricultural and industrial water conservation. Save water methods should be applied in the whole regions of water shortage. Increased water use efficiency will ensure that China`s water resources will be used in a reasonable, effective and sustainable manner. New technologies and management methods will be required which are underpinned by science. Greater attention must be given to prevention of pollution and other forms of water quality degradation in large river basins. ER -
