Using the power of the Web, various kinds of services can be provided to serve Internet users’ needs. Currently, most users receive Web services from access devices offering visual presentation capabilities. As wireless LAN becomes popular today, “anytime anywhere” connectivity is becoming a reality. However, most people still prefer telephone to Internet. From the business viewpoint, the current trend is to provide common services available through both Web browser interface and telephony interface. To reduce the cost of building and delivery of new capabilities to telephone customers, providing voice access to Web-based applications is an attractive option. VoiceXML makes it possible for companies to write shared business logic once and focus their resources on developing only the specific user interface for each device they support. This paper describes the design of a secure Interactive Voice system using an Apache web server and a Java servlets engine running on a web application server. It was also shown that Multimodal user-interface page can be generated by using XSLT stylesheet which transforms XML documents into various formats including XHTML, WML and VoiceXML. ER -
