AB  - The Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) was invented by the Malaysian Government to encourage IT-based companies to invest in Malaysia. To become a competitive knowledge-based economy, instead of heavy investment in advanced telecommunications facilities, the manpower factor is another concern. Due to the nature of the business which is highly technological oriented, skill personnel in this area is one of the major contributors to the success of the business. This study is undertaken to highlight factors that may influence the organisational commitment of knowledge workers in MSC status companies. A survey was conducted on 534 individuals considered as knowledge workers in MSC status companies. Questionnaire was used to obtain information regarding the factors that influence organisational commitment of the knowledge workers. Various factors that were mentioned in the mailed questionnaires were measured on 4 point Likert scale. The results show that development opportunities, freedom to act independently, technology, and incentives as the most influential factors on the decision to remain with the company. Meanwhile, pension and contractual obligation, health care, other fringe benefits (i.e. housing loan), social factors, professional link, and market demand are the factors that least influence on organisational commitment.
