Mainly the molecular markers, (hybridization-based markers and PCR-based markers) have tremendous uses which are capable of pinpointing genes and traits and diversity and evolution at the genetic level. In recent years, the demonstration of genetic polymorphism at the DNA sequence level has provided a large number of marker techniques with variety of applications. Genetic marker is a potential tool to geneticists and breeders to evaluate the existing germplasm and to manipulate it to create animals as desired and needed by the society. Now, genetic marker has brought a new dimension to animal breeding, especially in direct identification of the gene. This review focuses on application of different genetic markers in buffalo production. ER -
