ELISA assay was also applied to investigate the effect of exogenous IFN-γ on the level of IL-18 in the peripheral blood. The results indicated that IL-18 mRNA expression level was the highest in uterus and ovaries of normal pregnancy group and the lowest in abortion model group; compared with the abortion model group, the IL-18 mRNA expression level was up-regulated both in 2.4 and 2.8 IU IFN-γ dose group. Howere, no significant difference can be seen between 2 IU IFN-γ dose group and the normal pregnancy group (p>0.05). Furthermore, IL-18 protein was strongly expressed in the normal pregnant group and 2IU IFN-γ group. ELISA results showed that the level of IL-18 in peripheral blood of abortion model was the lowest and it was extremely significantly different from normal pregnancy group and 2 IU IFN-γ group (p<0.01).
