Specific primers were designed for each sub-type of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2); porcine circovirus type 2a (PCV-2a) and porcine circovirus type 2b (PCV-2b). Each target produced specific amplicon with a size of 229 bp (PCV-2a) and 785 bp (PCV-2b). The assay was sensitive and specific in detecting the target agent in clinical specimens. In conclusion, the PCR has the potential to be useful for routine molecular diagnosis and epidemiology.} }
