A Non Homogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP) with its mean value function specifed by a Pareto model is considered. Its parameters are estimated to assess the reliability of a software system. The results are illustrated for a live software failure data. Keywords: ML estimation;mean value function;Non homogeneous poisson process;software;period;stochastic;model
